I Can Give is a picture book created for young children to explore kindness through small, everyday moments.
The story encourages children to notice others, listen, and care in simple ways—like sitting beside someone, offering help, or sharing a kind word. It focuses on the idea that helping doesn’t always mean doing something big. Sometimes, it starts with paying attention.
Written for kids ages 4–7, I Can Give reminds children that they don’t have to be big to make a difference. Noticing others is often the very first step.
The book works well for classroom read-alouds and gentle conversations about kindness and empathy.

The story is designed to be calm and open-ended, giving children space to share their own thoughts and experiences.
About the Author
I’m Maahi, the author of I Can Give and the founder of Bag of Joy. I’m a high school student who cares deeply about helping children notice others and show kindness in everyday ways.
I believe that small actions matter, and that learning to notice others—especially in quiet moments—can make a real difference. When I was growing up, people in my life encouraged me to pay attention, listen, and care in simple ways, and those lessons stayed with me.
Creating and sharing I Can Give is my way of passing that encouragement on to younger children, and of reminding them that they don’t have to be big to make a difference.

Read-Aloud at Schools and Classrooms
Author-Led, In-Person Read-Aloud
I share I Can Give with schools, daycares, and early elementary classrooms through author-led, in-person read-alongs focused on shared reading and thoughtful discussion. During each visit, I read the book aloud and invite children to talk about noticing others and choosing kind actions in small, everyday ways.
Read-Aloud are calm, interactive, and age-appropriate, and typically last 20–30 minutes, making them easy to fit into classroom or daycare schedules. I use simple discussion prompts to help children connect the story to their own experiences.
Read-Aloud are offered at no cost. After each visit, I leave a copy of the book and a few optional discussion prompts so the conversation can continue.
