How I Decided to Support a Student in Ghana

In 10th grade, I wanted Bag of Joy to grow beyond just local giving. I continued working as a junior admin and running my small business making custom cups and coasters. This year, I chose to use part of what I earned to support Project Okurase, an organization helping children get an education in Ghana.

Action Taken
How I Helped a Student Through Project Okurase

With the money I earned, I funded a full year of education and meals for a young student named Florence at Nkabom Montessori School. Knowing that my work could help cover her tuition, school supplies, and daily meals made every hour I worked and every cup I made feel even more meaningful.

How Project Okurase Supported the Impact

Project Okurase made it easy to understand exactly how my contribution was helping. They shared updates on Florence and how the funds supported her learning materials, school meals, and classroom experiences. It felt special to know I was helping a child learn and grow all the way across the world.

My JoyStory

The Feeling of Helping Someone Far Away

Supporting Florence this year gave me a new kind of feeling. Even though she lives in a different country, it still felt like my work mattered to her life. It felt powerful to know that something I earned here could help someone learn, eat, and feel supported somewhere else. That feeling made me want to keep expanding how Bag of Joy gives back—both locally and globally.
