What This Year Was About
Turning Tech into a Tool for Giving

After volunteering last year, I realized how many steps it takes to fulfill a foster child’s wishlist. So this year, I focused on using technology to simplify giving. I created a platform that let people donate from any device, anywhere, and together we fulfilled 10 wishlists for foster kids in Michigan.

How I Took Action
Making Giving Simple from Anywhere

Inspired by what I learned last year, I built an easy-to-use form where people could view a wishlist, choose items, and give—all from their phone or computer. It made the process clear, simple, and impactful, and showed how tech can bring more people into the joy of giving.

Creating a Platform That Connects More Joy-Givers

Thanks to what I experienced hands-on at Friends of Foster Kids, I knew how to build something meaningful. This year, Bag of Joy became a giving platform, not just a fundraiser. It felt amazing to know the system I built helped more people support foster kids in a real, personal way.

My JoyStory

The feeling of giving something I worked for.

Dropping off the gifts felt different this year — in the best way. Knowing I earned the money myself made the moment feel stronger, almost like the joy doubled.

It reminded me why I love giving back: “Giving is the best feeling in the world.”
